Gert Kist — Fine Art Photographer & Gallery Founder
Gert Kist is a Dutch self-taught fine art photographer with more than 30 years of practice. His work is rooted in classical light inspired by Rembrandt and Caravaggio, while remaining grounded in the presence of real photographed people and real flowers.
Every image begins with careful lighting, styling and composition, followed by artistic post-production that deepens atmosphere without losing the character of the subject. His portraits explore character and emotion; his floral still lifes explore colour, texture and transience. The work is made slowly, with close attention to gesture, surface and the quiet tension between light and shadow.
Gert is also the founder and curator of Art Villa Gooi Gallery in Hilversum, where photography is presented alongside painting, sculpture and mixed media. His role as artist, founder and curator keeps the making and presenting of art closely connected. His work has been featured in Holland Herald, The FLUX Review and Thursd.
The gallery’s exclusive Master Collection brings together works intended for collectors, while the unframed Print Editions offer another way to live with his photography. The distinction is simple: the Master Collection is the gallery’s exclusive body of works, while Print Editions are unframed editions for a more accessible presentation.
